Should national anthem be played in cinema hall?
-
It
is order of Supreme Court that before starting of any movie at cinema theaters national anthem should be played to increase the respect and to arouse feeling
of patriotism and unite Indians as millions of people watch movie every single
day. It is not a new concept to play national anthem in cinema halls it was
implemented after the 1962 war with China but was discontinued in 1975 because
of the people ignorance towards it.

But
according to many critics cinema hall is a place where people go to enjoy and
it is not a good place to sing it because it is our national anthem and it
can’t be played before such double meaning vulgar movies and songs and there
are many non social elements who will disrespect national anthem and it is not
a place to play national anthem either it should be played at airlines before
the departure or in trains before the journey starts and it is a song to be
played in parades, government functions, presentation of
regiment colors and other functions of the president, governor or forces and
there are some cases also in which people of RSS beat a handicapped as he was
not standing on national anthem.
-
The earlier incident of someone being
beaten up when he did not stand up to the national anthem being played in a
movie in the theater was due to a clear lack of guidelines. Right from the
school days we have been taught to rise and pay respect to the national anthem
and the national flag but it seems like growing up takes that away from people
and that they need to be bound by guidelines to make them follow these rules. We
are divided by caste, religion, status, state etc.
The
only thing that unites us into one is our nationality. Once in a while showing
and feeling that unity is important. People will see and feel that there is
something in common between everyone at the theater which feels of being united
as a nation and somewhere it is written that national anthem can’t be played
under roof.People who are going to watch a movie standing in line for ticket for hours and popcorn for too long sometimes. People can stand hours when they have to but wouldn’t stand a few minutes to pay respect to their own national anthem. We are making controversy out of every order that comes out with restrictions.
should national anthem be played in cinema hall ?
The Supreme Court has just ordered the national anthem be
played before every movie in every cinema hall in the Republic of India. When
the national anthem is played it is imperative for everyone to show honor and
respect. It would instill a sense of committed patriotism and nationalism. The
national anthem should be played when respect is to be paid to the nation. For
every right there is a duty. However, having said that, personally I feel,
those who 'don't agree' should have the option to leave. My point is
that I genuinely feel good about it.
And for them, who feel
good, let the Anthem play... When the National Anthem is being
played or sung in a cinema hall, its doors must remain locked so that no one
can create any kind of disturbance that will amount to disrespect to the
National Anthem, a bench comprising Justices Dipak Misra and Amitava Roy said
in an interim order on Wednesday. Citizens of the country must release that
they live in a nation and are duty-bound to show respect to the National Anthem
which is the symbol of constitutional patriotism and inherent national quality,
Justice Misra said. "It does not allow any different notion or perception
of individual rights ... The idea is constitutionally impermissible."
“People should feel that they live in a nation and show respect to the national
anthem and the national flag,” the court said.Too much disrespect of national
symbols had been indulged in the name of “individually perceived notions of
freedom”, it added. The Indian flag should be displayed and the doors of cinemas
should be closed during the rendition to prevent people from entering or
leaving, the court said.
It also banned anybody from
dramatizing the national song, printing it on an “undesirable object”, singing
an abridged version or making money from it.The anthem, Jana Gana Mana, was
last ordered to be played in cinemas across India after the country’s 1962 war
with China, but its strains were largely ignored by most moviegoers, and the
practice was eventually discontinued.Seeking implementation of the order in 10
days, a bench of Justices Dipak Misra and Amitava Roy said: "All cinema
halls in India shall play the national anthem before the feature film starts
and all present in the hall are obliged to stand up to show respect to the national
anthem.
When national anthem shall be
played in cinema halls, it shall be with the national flag on the
screen."Adopting an activist stance, the Supreme Court said on Wednesday,
"A time has come, the citizens of the country must release that they live
in a nation and are duty bound to show respect to national anthem which is the
symbol of constitutional patriotism and inherent national quality. It does not
allow any different notion or the perception of individual rights, that have
(are)individually thought of, have no space. The idea is constitutionally
impermissible."
